hotel swirly-whirly is a curatorial collective, founded and run by artist Kate Lyddon and gallery director Alex Bowen [Neue Froth Kunsthalle, Brighton]. During 2013, Hotel Swirly Whirly curated a series of four exhibitions. '****' PART ONE ; '****' PART TWO; and '****' PART THREE [the **** trilogy] were held in succession at Neue Froth Kunsthalle in Brighton. The fourth and final show, PART FOUR [Speak, Clown!] was hosted by Fold Gallery, Clerkenwell, London, and, based upon the Ancient Greek model of a trilogy of tragedies followed by a 'satyr play', this final show was regarded as the comic releif to the darker trilogy. The shows included works by artists such as Lilli Hartmann, Neal Tait, Tim Stoner, Geraldine Swayne, Ansel Krut, Kerstin Dreschel, Marianne Basualdo, Tara Cranswick, Edward Lipski, Kate Lyddon, Chantal Joffe, Caroline Achaintre, Craig Andrews, Dan Coombs, and many more.
